PERL ATTACHMENT PROGRAMME
MEANINGFUL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AT THE CENTRE OF PEDAGOGICAL RESEARCH AND LEARNING
RGS PeRL welcomes individuals with a keen interest in a pedagogical research and learning career to participate in our Attachment Programme. You will be attached to a cross-function team comprising Research, Consultancy and Professional Learning domains where you will get a chance to work with experienced educational officers and professionals on specific projects integral to PeRL’s core responsibilities and outputs.
The attachment program, hosted for a period of between 5 to 12 weeks in a calendar year, will not only provide you with an insight into the work related to research and professional learning in education, but also allow you to feel the pulse of a knowledge-creating organisation.
CURRENTLY WE OFFER INTERNSHIPS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS

- Events Management
- Marketing and Publicity
We welcome individuals with a minimum of A-level qualification, as well as education officers on PDL or working professionals from all disciplines with an interest in this field to apply for our Attachment Programme. The job scopes and tasks that we offer will be designed to match your qualifications and experience.

Do indicate your area of interest(s), the type of learning you wish to engage in, and the time period and duration that you will be able to join us (minimum of 5 weeks and maximum of 12 weeks in a calendar year), and we will work with you to create a suitable and personalized program. THE PERL INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
A reflection by Ms Thet Thiri Ko, our intern:
Interning at PeRL these last 2 months has been a wonderful experience for me. I can say that I got into the job without knowing fully what to expect. When the opportunity to work at my alma mater came up, I took it up without much hesitation as I looked forward to working and contributing in the school environment that I was familiar with. This experience has challenged me in many different ways and provided me with a better understanding of PeRL’s role in the school and how pedagogical research is carried out in the school context.
Through the work at PeRL, I have gained valuable insights and picked up new skills. I had the opportunity to be exposed to various aspects of research during the internship. Some of the tasks that I completed include doing transcripts for data collected, analysing qualitative data and reviewing literature. Apart from that, I was also able to interact with students and teachers through focus group discussions and gained a deeper understanding of their perspectives and viewpoints. Above all, I think the experience has allowed me to better appreciate research in the education field and how the research findings could shape and influence teachers’ teaching practices and the learning experience for students.
What made the internship experience memorable would be the conversations that I have had with students, teachers and colleagues at PeRL. These conversations and discussions enabled me to broaden my narrow views about certain issues and have allowed me to better connect with others and build lasting relationships with them. They gave me a wider perspective on the work that I was doing and made the internship a more rewarding experience. I believe that the experience has allowed me to grow as a person and has also sparked my interest for education research.
A reflection by Ms Roshni Yogeshkumar Kantaria, our intern:
It has been a great month learning and working at my attachment at RGS PeRL as a graphic designer. Though I spent some time working as what a freelance graphic designer would – from home, much of the work done was in a 9 to 5 work schedule at the location of the attachment. Being able to experience and hence be acquainted with both work environments/ lifestyles, prepared me with what to expect with either work style.
Through the internship, I was fortunate to learn that practicing working with clients and in a group gave me skills that are equally important and valuable as that of knowing how to use Photoshop, if not, more. This skill-set is versatile such that it is invaluable in any field of work. From writing emails to being able to put into words and communicate the subjectiveness that is aesthetic and design, the learning opportunities were countless.
Technique wise, I became more bold in all such aspects. I was more open to working with different/unconventional colours, styles, and layouts. It paid off on most occasions as my mentors still approved of it. There were some instances in which I failed to keep within the fine line between practicality and novelty. I learned from these mistakes and gained in experience.
All in all, I am thankful for my experience at PeRL – an invaluable opportunity and a great start to my future pursuits in this field.
